The project

An airport to connect Ñuble with Chile and the world

A long-held wish of the community

The airport was born from the community's wish to connect the Ñuble Region with Chile and the world.

It aims to be an engine of regional growth: easier travel, stronger exports, and opening the Ñuble mountain range to international tourism.

What would change for the region

💼

Skilled jobs

Direct jobs on the runway, customs, SAG inspection, cargo, security and aeronautical maintenance. An estimated 3 indirect jobs for each airport job, in hotels, restaurants and transport.

🍒

Agricultural exports

Direct export of cherries, blueberries and fine fruit to Asia and North America, without the 8-hour truck trip to Santiago, and with cold-chain logistics. It also projects the wines of the Itata Valley.

🛫

Hub for the Centre-South

An air gateway for a macro-zone of more than 2 million people, and an alternative during emergencies or closures of nearby airports. Ñuble stops being a region people only pass through and becomes a logistics, tourism and business hub.

What the project includes

Seven lines of work

  1. Itata wines and the dry-farming produce of Ñuble.
  2. SAG: transport and direct export from Ñuble.
  3. Revive the religious celebrations of San Bartolomé, the regional patron saint.
  4. Hotel infrastructure and tourism, together with the Chamber of Commerce and SERNATUR, including Quinchamalí.
  5. Historical research on attractions such as Vegas de Saldías and the new reservoir.
  6. Enhancement of the Quilmo Cave.
  7. Development of the railway and of tourism and production logistics networks.
